THE THUMB TACK!

As you can see there is history in every corner you turn. Sometimes your not even looking for it and it just finds you (or the heel of your foot)

Anyways, one of the very useful inventions that we all love (and hate) is the thumb tack invented by Edwin Moore. I'm sure he wasn't thinking of the pain we would feel after stepping on one of these bad boys. None the less, In 1900 he patented his design for the thumb tack describing it as a pin with a handle. Later, in 1904, Johann Kirsten patented the flat head version of a thumb tack.

It is remarkable how something so small and seemingly insignificant has found its way to the top. I bet even President Obama has some of these laying around somewhere. We can find them in our homes, offices, desks, bulletin boards, and sometimes kitchen floors -_-

It sometimes takes a little pain to trigger our appreciation for things. I'm just happy for who ever invented the thumb tack case.

Keep your eyes open for its A-ttack!
