Earth Day

On April 22, 1970, “Earth Day” was declared a holiday. Earth Day, which was created by Democratic Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin is known to be a day of education about environmental issues such as pollution of air and water from places such as factories, big gas-guzzling cars are a sing of prosperity, learning to recycle, global warming and focus on green awareness. Began as a “national teach-in on the environment” which was held on April 22 to make the most of the students that could be reached on university campuses.

Ever since the year of 1970, Earth Day celebration had grown large. Twenty years later after it was found in 1990, it went global with two hundred million people in over one hundred and forty nations who are participating. Ten years later in 2000, Earth Day focused on clean energy and involved hundreds of millions of people in one hundred and eighty four countries and five thousand environmental groups.

Every year in my hometown of Middleton, Massachusetts, there is an Earth Day fair festival. For the last two years, which are 2012 and 2013 I’ve been helping a family who’s involved with the fair helping them with their part.
