The History of Ford

The Ford Motor Company was founded in 1905 by Henry Ford. It exemplified the "New Consumer Society" and adopted the assembly line method of production. Henry Ford created the system of "Fordism", which was an economic system based on mass production and mass consumption. This was the first time that these methods were used, and it introduced techniques for large-scale building of cars and large-scale management of the industrial workforce. Today, Ford Motors is a successful company and Ford cars are very popular. They are reasonably priced, easily maintained, and safe vehicles. I know a lot of people who own a Ford and they love them.

Immigration journal of my ancestor

My ancestor Captain Alden Besse, who sailed from England, a.k.a United Kingdom on a wooden ship. In Cape Cod while driving the ship, he was drunk and crashed into the rocks ahead of himself in Wareham, Massachusetts. After he crashed into the rocks, he took parts of the wooden ship off and built a house for himself and his family. While living in Wareham, Massachusetts, Cape Cod, he married Betsey Besse and had two sons Frank A. Besse (my great-great grandfather) and Isaac Henry (died at the age of two). Today I'm still researching up and looking for new information of Alden Besse.

Observational Balloons- World War I: My great grandfather's story

World War I begun in the year of 1914 and the United States entered into the war in 1917 when one of the German submarines blow up an American-Britist ship called the Lusitania. During the World War, veterans use observational balloons that were employed as aerial platforms for intelligence gathering and artillery spotting. My great-grandfather Gerard C. Besse Sr. was a war veteran during World War I. When he was on a observation balloon, a plane shot it down. Gerard, my great-grandfather jumped off the balloon with a parachute. While going down on the parachute, he shot the plane that shot down his balloon.

Here's an example of a observation balloon looks like:

Revere Beach

Revere beach is public beach was founded in 1895, also was first public beach in United States.  When summer time, I like to go there every afternoon for a walk and enjoy the breeze of the sea.  Although, I don't know how to swim, but that won't let me go near the water.  Those pictures were taken on a cold day.

Chpt. 20 - "Hollywood films now dominated the world movie market" (p.762)

Chpt. 20: A New Society - Somerville Theatre

Above is a picture of the Somerville Theatre which was built in the year 1914 and the theatre is still playing movies today.  I had been there once before and had gotten the thought that the theatre was old-fashioned.  The theater is located in a lively night area in Davis Square.

When it was first built it had rooms for stage shows, even opera, and of course motion pictures along with a basement café, bowling, and a billiards hall. It had gotten modernized over the years eliminating the billiard hall, bowling, and the café.  What I had found interesting was that the Somerville Theatre also host concerts including U2 in 2002 and others.

Chpt. 26 - Earth Day

On the above calendar, as you can see I circled Tuesday April 22nd which is to represent Earth Day.  Earth Day had originated in 1970 as a day to learn and care for the environment. Earth Day is a yearly occasion that occurs on the same day each year and happens to be recognized globally.

Motivated by the anti-Vietnam War, Democratic U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin founded Earth Day. In reading an article about Earth Day, it appears that the first Earth Day event was an enormous hit even to the fact that it had “organized itself.” Earth Day has definitely grown into something speculator with the growing numbers of residents and nations getting involved with the environment.
